about

After A Bonny Caper was released this spring, I spent a few months implementing some serious studio upgrades and learning my new production environment. Rather than wander aimlessly, I set myself an ultimate goal of producing two tracks; Side A and Side B of a 7" single.

For this release, I wanted to focus on production techniques. Last time, I limited myself to only what I could make a Game Boy do. Working with self imposed limitations is great for creativity, but what I wouldn't have given for a compressor or an equalizer!

Many of the sounds you will find here are from hardware instruments I designed and built myself. Also, everything was mixed down through my hand built summing mixer. I know most people can't be bothered, but it's a pretty great feeling being able to make music from things you made with your own hands.

So here we go, consider this a love letter to the early electronic music pioneers. From the cool cats at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, to the early Acid House, Electro, and French House producers. Thanks for all the awesome inspiration.

If this digital release makes enough to cover a vinyl pressing, I will do one.

It might be true that the Tymkrs are a band of time traveling gypsies armed with soldering irons, or they may have used their time machine to plant misinformation into the past to make us *think* they are. Hard to say ...
